About Monely

Who is behind the app that looks after your finances.

Monely was born out of a personal motivation: bringing together two passions, technology and personal finance, in an app that anyone could use day to day without hassle.

Behind Monely there is only one person. This text tells you who that person is, where they have been and why they decided to build yet another startup, this time focused on your finances.

One founder, one idea

Monely's sole founder is Charles Berti. There is no investor team, no group of partners. There is one person who envisioned the product, designed every screen, looks after the code, follows up on support and is accountable for the day-to-day decisions.

That choice is intentional. A personal finance app needs a consistent vision, care for the experience and independence in decisions about privacy and monetization. Keeping Monely lean allows precisely that.

About Charles

From here on, I am the one talking. The next sections tell you about my professional journey, how I got into programming and what led me to envision Monely.

Professional journey

Before Monely, there were about twenty years between entrepreneurship, sales and commercial management. I started early running small businesses of my own in Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil), went through eComanda, where I moved from salesperson to commercial manager in São Paulo, worked as a commercial coordinator at iFood, and returned to the startup world as the founder of W8 APP and Abacato, both focused on WhatsApp communication.

That movement between operations, sales and product is what shapes the way I think about Monely: technology has to solve a real problem, with a clear process and no frills.

Enthusiast programmer, with heavy AI support

I am transparent about this: I do not have an academic background in programming. My path in development was built through courses, constant practice and heavy use of artificial intelligence tools to help write, review and improve code.

That means Monely is, in part, an experiment about what an enthusiast can build today by combining technical curiosity, modern AI tools and twenty years of management experience. The code goes through automated review, tests and defined quality standards. Nothing here is amateur in the end result, even if the origin is that of a self-taught developer.

If you are a professional programmer reading this, look at it from the optimistic side: this is exactly the kind of product that the new generation of tools allows you to stand up with a small team and a lot of focus.

Passionate about management, personal finance and investments

Before becoming a part-time developer, I was already an enthusiast of management and personal finance. Expense tracking, monthly planning, emergency funds, studying investments and financial discipline have always been part of my routine.

That combination is Monely's starting point. I wanted an app that treated personal finance with the care a manager would give, not just with the look and feel of a modern app. Well-thought-out categories, honest handling of income and expenses, multi-currency support, bill splitting for couples and families, reports that help you decide, and WhatsApp integration to reduce daily friction. All of that was born out of this desire.

Why Monely exists

There are many finance apps in the world, but most of them fall into one of two categories: they either offer the basics for free and hide the essential parts behind expensive subscriptions, or they are rich in charts and far too complicated for an average person to use every month.

Monely was designed to fill the space between those extremes. A simple app to start with, that grows alongside you as your needs grow. A real free trial, fair plans and a global proposition from day one, with eight languages and support for more than a hundred currencies.

The focus is not to replace your bank. The focus is to help you understand what happens to your money every month, organize income and expenses, split bills with the people you share your life with, and build the habit of looking at your finances without anxiety.

What to expect going forward

As a lean operation, Monely moves forward with focus. Each release tries to solve a real pain point for the people who use it, without bloating the app with unnecessary features. New things show up in the App Store and Google Play release notes with every update.

In the long run, the vision is clear: a personal finance app that works equally well anywhere in the world, in any language, with useful integrations, well-applied artificial intelligence and full commitment to the privacy of the people who use it.
